Identify the surface
Wood, laminate, tile and natural stone need different care. Follow the flooring supplier's instructions and use a cleaning product intended for the material and finish.

Remove grit before mopping
Loose grit can scratch a floor when it is dragged around. Sweep with a soft brush or use a vacuum attachment suitable for hard floors before you mop.

Use moisture carefully
Wring out the mop well and avoid leaving standing water, especially on wood or laminate. Clean spills promptly and let the surface dry. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh products that are not approved for the floor.
